Tipperary Wed, 29th May, 2024 Party Dress She always worked well but hadn't run well in her two runs. She worked well on good ground the last day so I was disappointed the rain came but there weren't many options so I decided to run her. . She is big honest filly and was sent over to Ian McCarthy (pre-trainer) so she could jump a hurdle. . My wife and her good friend Susan Archdeacon own her between them and they're delighted. |
Curragh Sun, 26th May, 2024 Ocean Jewel They went no gallop and she was a bit fresh early on but Billy got her settled and she finished out well. I’m delighted with that. We’ll go on to Royal Ascot now for the Duke Of Cambridge. She’s won a Group 3 and a Group 2 now and that’s very important as she’s well bred and it’s great for Al Shira’aa Farms. The owners have been very patient and have waited since the Matron for this. I said to wait for good ground. There were a few races that we probably should have entered her in but she would have had to carry a Group 3 penalty and I just said it wasn’t fair on her and we’d wait for this and it would be a nice pipe-opener for Royal Ascot. She stayed the mile well. Once she settles early, she’ll stay it no bother. |
Navan Sat, 18th May, 2024 Amazon Lady She's probably three weeks in foal now to New Bay, so that helped her,. I've never seen her as relaxed, she looked fantastic and is thriving this year. She's a big mare and just took her time to come to hand. I just wanted to get a win into her to pay for her entries for the year. The Burns' have no interest in handicaps, they just want to get black-type for her. The handicapper dropped her a few pounds, so I said to try and get a handicap to pay for her entries because she might have to go to England. I think she loves that quicker ground, she skipped along and was in a lovely rhythm the whole way. |
Navan Tue, 7th May, 2024 Concluding Call I thought the favourite was always going to go on, because she had come home late the last day and was drawn one today. I told Billy to follow her, get her to relax and if we could have one go, to try and rob it - and that's what we did. But in fairness she went away at the line. She tried hard, is very honest and Billy thought she loved that bit-better ground. She's a lovely big filly and is a grand filly. Francois is a breeder so we'll try and do something black-type wise for her. |
