Punchestown Fri, 3rd May, 2024 Don'tstopthemusic We always thought he was a nice horse, it just took him quite a bit of time to mature,. I had been gearing him towards maybe a summer campaign but he's done a piece of work with Fastorslow in the last month, maybe once or twice, and we were very pleased with what we could see. . We won this two-and-a-quarter mile bumper with Longhouse Poet before so I said we'd let him take his chance in it and we got him here in nice shape. . We'll give him a little break now and have him back for Galway. . He's had a run in a hurdle race, the Christmas before last, and then was second in Galway. There were a lot of winners came out of that bumper, it was quite a good race on the day and we were happy with him then. . He takes a bit of time between races but maybe as he gets older it might come easier to him. |
Punchestown Wed, 1st May, 2024 Fastorslow To win it last year was a bit of a shock, but to win it two years in a row is something that can probably never be repeated again. We have to enjoy every second. In a lifetime you could have a hundred horses and never have a horse like him. Martin is an extraordinary man to care for a horse and had him spot on today. He’s turned up in just as good a shape (as last year) and possibly even better. JJ said he was running away with him for the first mile. He’s the best horse that I’ve ever had. |
Leopardstown Wed, 10th Apr, 2024 Saffronandblue it's a pleasant surprise as we were just hoping he'd run a nice race. I thought he had grown up a bit mentally over the winter from his previous run in Gowran and was looking forward to seeing how he'd run but I couldn't honestly say I thought he'd win. Fast Companys generally handle that ground and we were banking on that. I told him (Ronan Whelan) to ride him with a bit of patience and to finish well. In that grade they can't keep it up if they go too fast early on. |
