Cork Sun, 31st Mar, 2024  Summer Tide It was a bit of a surprise as I didn't think he was up to that as there were a few fair horses in it but I'm delighted for the young fella after getting a fall in the previous race. He had a good run behind Desertmore House in a beginners' chase last year at Kilbeggan and the (heavy) ground made up for today's lesser distance. We were struggling to win a race so I'm delighted to win. A win is a win and his mark over hurdles might now be more favourable after that. there was a chance Maidenstreetprince would have finished second (to Sir Gerhard) and he is ok after his fall.

Navan Sat, 23rd Mar, 2024  Hardwired He stayed at it well. He looked beat going to the last, but kept at it well. He's won over 2m6f and three miles, and he saw it out well. From being a frustrating horse he's now won four. He had a good pilot on board.

Fairyhouse Sat, 24th Feb, 2024  Sporting Glory Derek was brilliant in the last 50 yards. I'm delighted that he has ridden a winner for me. I've had a lot of top riders that have ridden winners for me and I was afraid I'd never get him to ride a winner. He was good there. We'll see what Joe Foley and Steve Parkin (Clipper Logistics) say, but we'll probably go for a maiden hurdle and then rock up to Punchestown in a good race, depending on how he jumps. Something like that. Martin Cullinane sold the horse and made sure that he'd end up in my yard. We were begging lads to buy him and they were knocking the horse because he was too old or whatever. He had a great pedigree, he's from the family of Harbour Pilot and there are winners everywhere on the page.

Punchestown Wed, 21st Feb, 2024  Balum Jack is from outside Ashbourne and had previously ridden the winner of a point-to-point. His family have a pub which he works in, he rides out and has a farm as well - he's a very busy man!. Jack's Mam (Eileen) and Dad (Raymond) own her so it's great. He comes into us and rides out and is a good young lad.

Naas Sun, 28th Jan, 2024  Kings Halo Danny was brilliant and got the fractions right on him. I thought he’d gone a tad quick early on, but he knew what he was doing. Our fella jumped and travelled. I came up here in hope rather than confidence but the drop back in trip didn’t make any difference to him and it was a good performance. He has plenty of options now with trips and he’ll get into better handicaps now. The lads (Kings Halo Partnership) are great owners and are all from West Cork so it’s great.

Punchestown Mon, 15th Jan, 2024  Annalecka Ricky was good on her. He said she took a bit of a blow and she should improve. It was a tight finish and I’m very glad we came out the right side of it. Pat Moran (owner) is from Mayo and he gets a great kick out of it. He’s come up here with all the family and they’ve had a great day out. His brother bred her and he has a few half-sisters at home, so it’s great.

Punchestown Sun, 14th Jan, 2024  Hardwired he's a lucky old horse but he's a bit of a toe-rag. I'd say he was beaten as the horse (Bonnie Kellie) looked to be cantering alongside him. He (Harvey) said he wasn't doing a stroke and when the horse disappeared he nearly pulled himself up. He's after winning three now though and he is out of a good mare (Summer Star) who Katie used to ride and she won four times on.

Cork Sat, 6th Jan, 2024  Da Capo Glory It is his first run for five months and Darragh knows him very well having won a bumper and maiden hurdle on him. We couldn't look past him with his 7lb claim on that ground, which is worth its weight in gold. This horse was my first winner, he is still flying the flag and is a mighty horse. He isn't big, but is very well-bred and jumps hurdles very well. He pulled up in the Galway Hurdle when they went a million (speed) and we were behind and beaten after the first hurdle. He didn't really get a race though, but the thing about him is he can hit flat spots in his races. . He ran well when finishing fourth in the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran last year and that is an option again. It is mighty for the five-member syndicate (Red Strand Syndicate) and there are a lot of happy people here, although two are at home with Covid, another is in Copenhagen and he couldn't make it. They are west Cork people and we had our initial syndicate meeting in the Red Strand (in Cork).

Navan Sat, 9th Dec, 2023  Embittered He won well and it was a nice pot. He had a nice run the last day in Cork, we were delighted with it, and he did it well there today. Carl is good value for 7lb. I've no real plan for him, we'll try and find something similar.

Clonmel Thu, 7th Dec, 2023  Kitsilano He had a nice run in England last time but we were worried about today's ground. He wants it a bit nicer as he isn't a big horse or powerful but got away with it and did it nicely. He won a couple of point to points and it is nice for a few of the lads that are in him, Oisin Mahon and Johnny Donoghue, so it is a good day out for them. We might put him away now until the spring and bring him back at the end of February or March.
