The Stewards requested a report from M.F.Morris, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dromnea, placed first, as compared with its previous run. M.F. Morris stated that he was most disappointed with the previous run at Leopardstown 26th December where he raced prominently to the second last flight and subsequent examinations revealed no abnormalities post race. He felt in hindsight that his charge may have had a very hard race at Naas 9th November behind The Tullow Tank before racing a month later at Cork 8th December when finishing second. He added that following the poor run the last day he eased down on the geldings training and allowed him to freshen up before a return to full exercise recently which satisfied him enough to allow the gelding to take his chance today with no definite expectations. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
