John Egan, the rider of the winner, Devizes (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 1 ½ furlongs out.
Daniel Muscutt, the rider of WHERE’S TOM, placed second, was interviewed regarding his use of the whip after the finish line.
Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident, the Stewards found that he was not in breach and accepted his explanation that due to concerns that his mount was going to run out and carry the horse on his outside, he used his whip as a corrective measure.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Renardeau (GB), placed fifth, was very slowly away.
