Permission was given for Captain Cooper (IRE) to go early to post and for Sir Benedict (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Leaving the stalls, Yazaman (IRE), placed second, jumped left interfering with London Palladium (GB), unplaced, which in turn interfered with Captain Cooper (IRE), placed sixth, which in turn interfered with Bulls Aye (IRE), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Yazaman (IRE).
The winner, Thunder Of Niagara (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 2 May 2021 where the colt finished seventh of eight, beaten by 12 lengths.
It was noted that Mark Johnston’s representative could offer no explanation for the colt’s improved form.
Thunder Of Niagara (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Daniel Tudhope reported that Yazaman (IRE), placed second, jumped left leaving the stalls and hung left-handed up the straight.
David Allan reported that Titan Rock (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed throughout.
Paul Hanagan reported that Sir Benedict (IRE), placed fifth, ran too free.
