Outlier was the second J.P. McManus-owned newcomer to win on consecutive Tipperary race-days today, landing the TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden Hurdle (div II) for trainer Pat Flynn and jockey Simon Torrens.

McManus' debutante Slip Of The Tongue was a 33/1 winner last Thursday and today, Outlier, homebred by his wife Noreen, defeated runner-up Believe Jack to score at odds of 15/2 (from 6s).

Outlier's three-years-older sister Buttons And Bows (also by Flemensfirth) was herself a 25/1 winner on debut for McManus in November 2018 and following today's race Torrens commented “it was probably a weak enough maiden but it was a great first effort and they are there to win.

“She showed a good attitude and hopefully will progress.

“The boys put the hood on her as she can be keen and buzzy at home but was great there. It seemed to work and hopefully she will have learned a bit from her first day at school.”
