Tandem defied a 434-day layoff to claim the scalp of Motherland in the TipperaryRaces.ie Race.

Motherland was also returning from a break, having last appeared in public when turning a Galway Festival handicap into a procession in the style of a potential Group performer.

He made his own running and appeared to see off all challengers, only for Leigh Roche to slip up his inside on Dermot Weld's Tandem (20-1), who saw out the mile and a half well to prevail by a length.

Alluringly (9-4) made an impressive start to her three-year-old campaign in the Tipperary Races Fillies Maiden.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained daughter of Fastnet Rock was beaten in a couple of maidens last autumn but has clearly improved over the winter and swept past favourite Dabulena to register a four-and-three-quarter-length verdict.

O'Brien reached for the cheekpieces for Venice Beach and it helped him break his duck in the Fundraising Events At Tipperary Races Maiden.

The Galileo colt was a fair third on his return to action at Leopardstown but stepped forward significantly now upped to a mile and a half, storming down the straight to beat Clongowes by five and a half lengths as the even-money favourite.

There was also jumping action, and Willie and Patrick Mullins combined to land the Point To Point Evening 11th May Maiden Hurdle with Robin Des Foret.

The 5-4 favourite went clear with Leomar some way out but had much more in reserve and scored by six and a half lengths.

Ask David (20-1) returned from a break in the Buy Online At TipperaryRaces.ie Handicap Hurdle and it has done him the world of good because he produced a career-best performance to beat Ted Bach by a length and a half.

Lyreen Lad (4-1) stayed on best in the Follow TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden Hurdle, while Just Call Me swooped to land the Follow Tipperary Races On Facebook Handicap Hurdle.
