Aidan O'Brien's Shark Bay came home well to collar the 7/4 favourite Nusret in the concluding median auction maiden over an extended 1m2f in Cork.

Nusret went for home two furlongs out but he was soon attended by Shark Bay. Nusret kept going, and lost little in defeat, but was passed in the final 100 yards by Shark Bay who was pushed out by Ryan Moore to win by half a length at 11/4. Newcomer Spasiba kept on for third, beaten three lengths by the winner, at 4/1.

Moore said: "He had some good form last year and it was nice to step him up in trip. He showed a good attitude to win. He is still learning and I expect him to progress.

"It is a lovely track."
