Sean Flanagan completed a double at Navan today when steering the Harry Kelly trained Edvardo to win the Meath Handicap Hurdle, moving the jockey to within one winner of his previous best seasonal tally.

Edvardo's form figures coming in to today's race were an uninspiring '0-000P' but following today's 12/1 (from 20s this morning) win, Kelly stated “that was grand. He has run a few disappointing races but he was just very cautious in handicap company.

“When he pulled up in Limerick the ground was atrocious and couldn't even see him during the race with the kickback.

“It was nice to get that and hopefully there's a couple more in him. Sean gave him a great ride and he jumped and travelled.”

The double leaves Flanagan, on the mark earlier with the Liz Doyle trained Last Goodbye just one winner short of his best seasonal tally of 23 wins in the 2008/09 campaign.
