Evergreen veteran Peregrine Run (5/2 fav) won the concluding Horseraces S.A. Of Greece Handicap in the hands of Sam Ewing.

Waited with towards the rear of the eight-runner field, the 11-year-old looked to have plenty to do passing the two-furlong marker.

He soon made ground towards the outer, though, and swept to the front in the final furlong, going on to beat Dollar Value (15/2) by three and a quarter lengths.

It was a first win on the Flat for Peter Fahey’s grand servant to go with his 17 victories under National Hunt rules.

"He loves passing horses," said Ewing.

"He hadn't really travelled the whole way around, he'd be a bit outpaced on the Flat.

“Once he started passing a few he just loves it. Once he got into top gear he was away.”
