Bread And Butter put in a professional performance to land Roscommon's extended two mile three furlong handicap hurdle.

There was plenty of merit in this victory as he got 11lb for obliging over a similar trip in a handicap hurdle at Tipperary just under a fortnight ago.

Conor McNamara had him tracking Dollar Value throughout and asked the five-year-old gelding to go after the leader before two out.

Dollar Value had attempted to make all, and it caught up with him at the last which he paddled his way through.

Bread And Butter skipped over it and was ridden to pick up Dollar Value halfway up the run-in.

He won going away by two and a quarter lengths at 7/2. Chasing Abbey got up for second at 5/1 from Dollar Value (14/1).

Trainer Gavin Cromwell said: "It was a lovely ride by Conor, he got a lovely tow into it.

“I thought the handicapper was harsh enough on him the last day. I'm delighted with that.

“We might look at the 0-123 over two-miles-five in Galway with him.

“He's only a small little horse but he jumps well.”
