Vespertilio’s connections are looking forward to classic targets in 2024 with the smart daughter of Night Of Thunder who will not run again this season.
The half-sister to two winners was purchased for €320,000 by Al Shira’aa Farms at Arqana last year and has shown steady progress in four outings this term.
She was placed twice including behind Ylang Ylang before taking the Group 2 Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes in decisive fashion and returned to the Curragh last month when running a cracker in the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
The Willie McCreery-trained filly filled the runner-up spot behind Fallen Angel as the pair drew clear of the remainder in that Group 1 event.
The Curragh trainer is looking forward to next season, although ground conditions may dictate plans.
“We had been considering another run but it’s been decided that she’s finished for the year,” said McCreery.
“I’m delighted with her and her form is standing up left, right and centre although I’m not sure if she is as effective on softer ground.
“She will be entered in the three Guineas. We’ll have a look at the French one as well and see where the better ground is.”
