Uhtred justified strong support to run out an impressive winner of the concluding 'Future Champions' Flat Race at Navan this afternoon.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding, a bumper winner at Fairyhouse back in April, had chased home stable-mate Front View over hurdles on his return at Cork last month.

Back on the level this afternoon he was backed from 7/4 into 5/4 favourite for this Listed contest.

Tom Hamilton produced his mount to lead passing the two pole and drove him clear over a furlong out.

The Fame And Glory gelding galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a comprehensive four-and-a-half length winning margin over long-time leader Fantasio D'alene who also carried the Gigginstown colours.

Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said:- “He’s a nice horse and he has gears. Tom said he took off with him at one stage.

“He gave him a squeeze off the bend, it took him a while and then he took off. He said he was quickening all the way to the line.

“He’s coped with the ground and he’s a baby. I’d say he’ll stick to bumpers now for the rest of the season. He’s a bumper horse with gears which is nice.

“I think our last six bumper horses have won which is great.”
