Tony Mullins reports Princess Zoe in great form and is looking forward to an autumn campaign for his star stayer with the Comer Group International Irish St Leger and the Qatar Prix du Cadran very much on the agenda.
The German import progressed from a handicap mark of just 64 in the summer of 2020 to win five races in a row culminating in the Group 1 Prix du Cadran at Longchamp on Arc weekend.
The grey daughter of Jukebox Jury continued to pick up good place prizemoney last year notably when second to Subjectivist in the Ascot Gold Cup and was back in the winners enclosure this spring when taking the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot.
The seven-year-old hasn’t quite hit the heights in her latest two starts but connections are hoping for some ease in the ground over the coming months.
“She’s perfect and we decided not to go in the Leger Trial on Saturday because of the good ground,” said the Gowran trainer.
“We got away with it in Ascot in April and we tried it in the Ascot Gold Cup and we tried it in Goodwood and she couldn’t handle Goodwood at all so we are going to wait for the Leger now and back for the Prix du Cadran.”
Mullins’ yard is in great form at present having saddled two winners and a second from just four runners at the Tramore Festival meeting, where his son Danny picked up the leading rider award with five winners.
