Grand National winner Noble Yeats will hope to get his season up and running at Wexford on Monday in the M.W. Hickey Memorial Chase.
The Aintree hero had an unfortunate experience when reappearing at Auteuil earlier this month in the Grade 3 Prix Heros XII but has come back safe and sound.
“He made a bad mistake at the second and James (Reveley) took no chances and pulled him up. Thankfully he’s none the worse from it and we are essentially looking for our first run of the season,” explained trainer Emmet Mullins on Racing TV.
“Wexford on Monday will be safe ground and Minella Indo won it in the past and went on to good things. It will be a logical place to start.”
The Gigginstown-owned trio of Run Wild Fred, Diol Ker and Frontal Assault are also among the eight entries for the 2m7f Listed race.
Mullins enjoyed much better fortune on the same Auteuil card with Mctigue winning the Grade 2 Prix Georges de Talhouet-Roy and the Fracas juvenile is heading back to the same venue in a few weeks.
“It was a brilliant performance by the horse on his first run in Auteuil, to travel over a three-year-old and take on the French horses who had a run in Auteuil. It was a great thrill to go and do it.
“He will go back to France for a Grade 1 in November with €250,000 in prizemoney.”
