Michael Browne reports his stablestar Logo Hunter to be over a number of ‘niggly’ problems and is targeting the Listed Abergawn Stakes at Tipperary later this month.
The Brazen Beau gelding enjoyed a great campaign last year winning four times and was particularly impressive on soft ground at Naas when landing the Sole Power Sprint Stakes by over four lengths.
He recorded a further Listed success in the Midsummer Sprint Stakes at Cork but Browne hasn’t enjoyed a clear run with the four-year-old since.
He beat all bar Brostaigh when seeking a repeat win in the Sole Power this May but the following month never got in a blow behind Aussie sprinting star Nature Strip in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
“I had him entered to run at Tipperary on Friday but he pulled a muscle across the top of his back. I think he’s good now,” said the Cashel trainer.
“He’ll come back to Tipperary for the Abergawn Stakes (on August 26).
“He’s had three or four little niggly things go wrong, nothing serious, and he got a lung infection after coming back from Ascot as well.
“He’s in good shape other than that and hopefully he’ll run in three weeks at Tipperary.”
