Belles Feuilles clung on at the line to land the first division of the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk, making a winning start for trainer Gavin Cromwell.

Gary Carroll produced the Churchill filly to lead passing the furlong pole but she was all out late on as Limestone Red and Ranko Express in the centre, flew home.

The 7/1 shot had a short-head to spare at the line from Limestone Red with a neck further back to Ranko Express.

Belles Feuilles was gaining a breakthrough success at the ninth attempt. She had been backed from 16/1 this morning.

Carroll said: "We didn't know much about her.

"To be fair, her work at home went exactly to how she ran there.

"Travelled strongly and keeps going well.

"She handled it (surface) well, she's genuine.

"Hopefully, once the handicapper is not too hard on her, she can win again."
