Recent Galway festival runner-up Mr Percy gained a deserved first success at Gowran today, as the Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding landed the concluding Racing Again September 21st Maiden impressively under Dylan Browne McMonagle.
The ex-French-trained, Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned four-year-old had finished second on each of his previous three runs and today raced prominently before stretching clear in the home straight, beating Galway Hurdle-fourth Winter Fog by seven lengths.
Browne McMonagle reported “I jumped from the gates and he was comfortable. We got it easy on the front end and he’s a lovely, relaxed horse so I didn’t want to break his momentum as he stays well.
“He stretched out well to the line and is a nice horse.”
