Mephisto (12/1) registered an overdue second success today, landing Dundalk's Dundalk Winter Series Championship Handicap for trainer Gerry Keane, jockey Mark Enright and the Restricted Movement Syndicate.
Previously successful at Sandown in August 2020, the six year old was today ending a 25-race losing spell, including nine hurdles, when staying well to beat Curious Bride by three-parts of a length.
Keane, father of Champion Jockey Colin Keane, reported "we bought him out of Ralph Beckett's and this has been a long time coming as he has been very disappointing. The race just ran to suit him and everything worked out really well.
"He definitely wants good ground and I'd like to see a fence in front of him during the summer. He had two unlucky falls which he didn't deserve as he is a brilliant jumper.
"We'll go back hurdling and think about chasing for the summer. We'll keep him at two miles here but it is hard to get these races. Mark (Enright) is very good and is a very talented rider."
