Ten-year-old Jack Holiday (11/1- 6s) was a well-backed winner of Wexford's racingtv.com Handicap Chase today, scoring under jockey Darragh O'Keeffe and registering a fourth career success for his owner Finbarr McCarthy.
Having his second start for David Christie, Jack Holiday today scored by 4.75 lengths from Ricky Landford with the successful Fermanagh-based trainer reporting "we only have him three or four months and he had gone over to a trainer in the north of England to get better ground, but never ran.
“His owner was looking for someone in the north then that could go back and forth to England with him.”
He added “he surprised us here the last day as we hadn't him really ready and he came on a lot for that run. Darragh gave him a very good ride from the front as he likes bossing it and he jumped super.
"He is some horse for them, the way he keeps running and being placed.
"He might go to Killarney now in a few weeks' time. I wouldn't say he is restricted to two miles but when he is going over that trip he can boss it. Whereas if we stretched him and had him off the bridle for too long it wouldn't be the best thing."
