The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that C.J. Orr, rider of Youngnedofthehill, had presented himself to weigh out at 2 lbs overweight which was not declared. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who explained the circumstances surrounding the overweight and apologised for this. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion following consultation with Shane Nolan, trainer of Youngnedofthehill. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied C.J. Orr was in breach of Rule 198(vii) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 3 racedays
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Polished Steel, ridden by R.M
Power, placed fourth and Smiling Eliza, ridden by M.A. Enright, placed third, where it appeared Polished Steel ran short of room on the inner and was forced to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Smiling Eliza had caused interference to Polished Steel and in doing so, had improved his finishing position as a result of the interference caused. The Stewards therefore reversed the placings of the the third and fourth placed horses. The amended result now reads; 1st The King Of Brega, 2nd Ask Nile, 3rd Polished Steel, 4th Smiling Eliza, 5th Western Boy and 6th Youngnedof the hill. Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A. Enright was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having taken his previous record in this regard into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday
