Karl Thornton is looking forward to a tilt at the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap with his stable star Shanroe.

An eight-time victor, the son of Multiplex won a prep race for Europe's richest handicap on the level at the Curragh on his most recent start.

Thornton now has his sights firmly fixed on the main prize at York on August 21st.

The Co Dublin based handler said: “Shanroe goes straight for the Ebor. We gave him a bit of a holiday.

"He was to go to the Curragh a few weeks ago but the ground was a bit quick. We've eased him off again and will go straight there.

"He didn’t travel well before (going to Haydock in May) so I’m going to stay with him away from the racecourse. We have a paddock sorted so we’ll see if that works. He’ll travel over the day before.

"We sent him with a transport company before and everything worked out wrong. I’d rather bring him over myself.

"He’s rated 101 so he should get in off a nice weight."
