The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Cork went the way of the Gigginstown House Stud-owned and Denise ‘Sneezy’ Foster-trained The Very Man (9/4 into 6/4) under Jordan Gainford.

Five to four market leader Port Stanley gave him most to do but The Very Man got the best of it by a length and a quarter with the pair twenty five lengths clear of the third, Rocket Lad

"It was a nice performance. He had a very good run the last day at Leopardstown when they went a good gallop and today suited him,” said Gainford.

"From the back of the second last he put down his head and toughed it out. He is a lovely horse going forward over fences. That ground suits him lovely and he is a smart horse."

At the request of the Stewards, L. Quinlan, rider of Aces Full (FR), trained by Patrick Breen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount got very tired and was nursed in the home straight before passing tired horses.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Madison To Monroe trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the left fore post race.
