Trainer Peter Fahey moved onto the ten winner mark for the season when 80/1 chance Born Patriot made a winning debut at Punchestown on Tuesday.

The Monasterevan handler also has a progressive mare in his yard in the shape of Royal Kahala.

The daughter of Flemensfirth started her career when second to last weekend’s Listed bumper winner Castra Vetera at Naas back in March and was a wide-margin winner of her third start in bumpers at Fairyhouse in early November.

She returned to the Co. Meath venue ten days later and again impressed when making a winning start over hurdles, beating dual bumper winner The Getaway Star by over half a dozen lengths.

Fahey is in no rush to run her again after a busy spell, but it would appear that a return to a course at which she clearly acts very well is on the cards.

“She will go back to Fairyhouse just after New Year’s Day for a mares’ winners-of-one race. We won’t step her up to Graded company just yet.

“If that goes ok then there is a mares’ black type (Grade 3 Solerina Hurdle) at the end of that month in Fairyhouse.

“She came out of her race very well and I couldn’t be happier with her.

"She’s in great form at home but I just wanted to spread out her races a bit after having two races fairly quick.”
