FormscanBy Gary Carson - FLAG OF HONOUR has really come into his own since stepping up to this trip and can claim 'classic' glory here having landed the Leger trial over course and distance last month. He probably didn't go that hard in front then and did well to pick up again when tackled by Twilight Payment passing the furlong pole. He appeared to win with a bit in hand then and looks capable of stepping up on that performance. It looks another face off between Aidan O'Brien and his sons Joseph and Donnacha. They famously triumphed with Latrobe in the Irish Derby here in late June and the Camelot colt steps up in trip to a mile-and-six for the first time now. He probably found ten too sharp in the Juddmonte at York last time and it looks a natural move to try him now over further with the Melbourne Cup a possible target later on. Obviously he's already a Group 1 winner and has to be a leading contender but Flag Of Honour looks a real smart stayer in the making and might just prevail over this trip having had the experience of going the distance already. English raider Weekender could play a big role. He ran really well under a big weight in the Ebor at York last time and on ratings is top best with both Latrobe and Idaho. The older Ballydoyle horse is solid sort but may just be vulnerable to an improving younger horse.
